DISCLAIMER: We have received tickets to attend Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker in exchange for this blog post, all opinions expressed are 100% my own!

Aside from The Night Before Christmas, my favourite Christmas story is The Nutcracker. The magical story of Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker is coming to life in Vancouver December 21st to 23rd and how could I say no to taking my littlest ballerina and family to the magical opening night!

Sharing the story of The Nutcracker with my girls is a Christmas tradition, and being able to see it come to life in such a beautiful way will make for one magical evening! If you know the story of the Nutcracker, this story speaks to our children in a way that is so magical and inspiring for our girls.

As a child, I think we all imagined at some point that our toys would come to life when we were asleep. Growing up with brothers, the story of the boy saving the girl seemed so far fetch. The Nutcracker was my first introduction into the female heroine saving the day. We know this magic and this story makes that childhood magic feel so much more possible.

Thankfully for the 10th year in a row, Vancouver’s most captivating ballet tradition of the holiday season, Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker returns with Devon Teuscher and Alexandre Hammoudi from New York’s renowned American Ballet Theatre (ABT) as Principal dancers in the iconic roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier Prince.

Devon Teuscher and Alexandre Hammoudi will join a cast of over 250 dancers that represent Vancouver’s top performing artists. The local and international cast will perform to choreography set by Emmy award winner and Canadian choreographer Anna-Marie Holmes. Members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra will provide live musical accompaniment for each performance.

As this is the 10th production of Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker, guests are now able to enjoy an interactive VIP experience that includes exclusive pre and post-show activities such as, a private champagne reception, mingling with the cast with photograph opportunities and backstage tour access.

Any seat in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre will guarantee to be a magical experience and with both matinee and evening performances, you don’t want want to miss this Christmas Classic!

Even though I was personally was never into dance, the name Goh Ballet is that household name that guarantees excellence and some of the most incredibly talented dancers that Canada has to offer. Since 1978, Vancouver has been home to Goh Ballet, a vibrant, innovative and diverse dance organization.

Following the vision of its founders, while expanding on current artistic aspirations, Goh Ballet pursues technical and artistic excellence while raising cultural awareness in our communities through performance productions. It provides extraordinary opportunities for dancers to reach their full potential while contributing to the artistic well-being of our city and country. Goh Ballet is always at the forefront of the arts community.

As soon as Zoe started walking, she’s been light on her toes, prancing and dancing around the house. Her love for ballet is deep; born from watching Emma in The Wiggles but has transformed into this incredible passion. Maybe one day, I’ll be watching Miss Zoe up on that stage performing in the Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker.

Grab your tickets today and see this Christmas Classic come to life in the 10th production of Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker. Be sure to follow our stories on Instragram on December 21st for opening night to see more of this years’ performance!
