There was a time when I was gifted odd appliances. It started with a heart shaped waffle iron then the Stir Crazy, Automatic Hands Freee Sauce Stirrer. And ended with a mini donut maker from Superstore. My husband knows how much I love cooking and baking. I know how much my husband loves that I love to cook and bake. This donut maker was to satisfy my love of baking while feeding his love of donuts. Now I am able to get my donut on at home in just minutes!
Part of my love for making things at home is having the control over the ingredients that go into them. I can change the ingredients to make them healthier or leave them as is for all the sugary goodness that donuts are meant to be! You may have seen on my Instagram back in January that I had actually taken a photo of these little donuts that I had made. I topped them with Sprinkles from Dainty Sprinkle Co that I received a media gift from Celebrate Market. Celebrate was set for February however, unfortunately, it was canceled due to snowmageddon 2017 in Vancouver. Thankfully, they have rescheduled Celebrate to March 18th and you will find Dainty Sprinkle Co there. - 1 1/2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk

- Preheat Donut Maker!
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients together. Add egg, milk, butter and vanilla and stir in. Add oil and continue to stir. Pour in the mixture and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the doughnut maker, sprinkle with sugar and enjoy!
Brush doughnuts with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or make a simple glaze icing. I did by combining 1 cup icing sugar, 1 teaspoon softened butter, a splash of vanilla, 1 tablespoon water, mix until smooth. Makes roughly 24 doughnuts.
